Secondary
Our Secondary School consists of our Year 7 to Year 10 classes. During this stage of development students experience a variety of changes where a sense of togetherness and belonging is important.
Secondary years at SCC
At SCC we work with parents to help our students navigate adolescence as we nurture, extend, inspire and equip them.
We place emphasis on supporting student wellbeing and social and emotional development. Students gather daily in Home Groups and are supported and cared for by their dedicated Home Group teacher.
We aim to make learning inspiring and challenging for all learners. Alongside the core curriculum, students participate in a unique variety of electives including Art, Media, Outdoor Education, Drama, Film Studies, Music, or our Technologies subjects, Design, Food or Digital Technologies. There are also opportunities to undertake individual passion-based projects.
As part of our focus on equipping students, we have also developed an innovative program to support learning across all subject areas. Each week, Secondary students engage in Learning Labs. By taking an integrated approach to learning and wellbeing, they come to understand more about their personal development and how learning happens. They build skills and strategies they can use at school or in other aspects of their life beyond the classroom. This program has the potential to transform each student’s learning experience.
During their Secondary journey, students engage in a wide range of extra and co-curricular activities and experiences such as: School production, outdoor and experiential learning, the QUEST program, Brain Day, Respectful relationship seminars, student leadership initiatives, Doulos service program, sporting teams, Musical ensembles, specialist music tuition, School House competitions and community events or the MUSTARD spiritual leadership project.
Together, these key aspects of our Secondary school support each student to build strength of character and ensure they are well-equipped as they embark on their individual career pathway planning for Years 11 and 12, and beyond.
