Student leadership
The unique student leadership program at Southern Christian College inspires our students to focus on a Christ-centred viewpoint of servanthood.
Student leadership at SCC
At SCC we aim to develop student leaders who can disciple, mentor, and lead others. Based on the biblical principle of servant leadership, students are taught that, to be a good leader, they must lead with love, using the life of Jesus as their example.
Our student leaders are encouraged and nurtured to set the example that others want to follow. In doing so, they engender respect and build trust. Formal student leadership opportunities occur across the College.
Just as importantly, all students have opportunities to develop their leadership skills through the Service Programme and by participating in Doulos as well as other College initiatives. The College aims to teach students how to build positive relationships with each other and so help today’s students become tomorrow’s leaders.
Doulos student leadership group
In the New Testament, the word Doulos means “one who gives themselves up to be used by Christ in extending and advancing His cause among men and women”. Doulos is all about servant leadership as modelled by Jesus.
Junior and Secondary Doulos which are open to all students, offer an opportunity to come together to raise awareness about important issues, serve, care and advocate for those in the local and global community. Doulos aims to encourage and develop young people to be “Change Makers”.
Junior and Secondary Doulos facilitate several different initiatives within the College including Breakfast Clubs, Operation Christmas Child, and several other important fundraising ventures.
